October is for playoff baseball, and it's also for showers here in the Pacific Northwest. As such, the Mariners kept the roof closed at T-Mobile Park Friday night thanks to pockets of rain rolling through Puget Sound. By the 13th inning, I was thinking maybe they should pull it back to change up the vibe in there, but at least the ball finally bounced in the right direction...

We'll keep the occasional showers going on Saturday, although they'll once again alternate with plentiful sunbreaks in between the rounds of rain. Some of the showers could get locally heavy, with stray lightning and hail possible in the autumn weather mix. The air will take on a much cooler note, too, with highs mainly in the middle 50s from Olga to Orting on Saturday afternoon.

Sunday looks even cooler and increasingly damp, with steady rain taking over along I-5 as the day goes on. Highs will fall back into the lower 50s around the region, bringing the snow level down to only 5,000'. There is a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY in place Sunday through Monday in the north Cascades, including over Mt. Baker, as we'll see 5 to 7" of snow tallying up there by the time this storm is a wrap. All in all, Saturday is the better half of the weekend for getting outdoors and staying drier, so if you're heading to a corn maze or a pumpkin patch, that might be your better bet for avoiding muddy boots! The Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival is going on this weekend in Port Angeles, and it's time to celebrate all things red, round and tart with the annual Cranberry Festival in Grayland and Long Beach.

The showers wind down *just* in time for back-to-work and school next Monday, with blue October skies back by Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs will gradually climb back into the seasonable low 60s next week as the sunshine returns.

Have a wonderful weekend, and goooo Mariners!
